Gavin Skerritt
Tenby Arts Festival
The first stage event of the 11th Tenby Arts Festival set very high levels of professionalism and complete artistic originality.
Here was an animated stage production designed by Gavin Skerritt: thought provoking, exciting, amusing and an unique theatrical experience in miniature.
This is Gavin Skerritt’s first show for adults and he uses puppetry, poetry, song and his own striking physical presence in exploring ancient folk rituals which predate Christianity and includes echoes of voices, songs and dreams from childhood.
He builds and executes the show entirely single-handed with sophistication, dramatic sound effects and subtle lighting changes, all whilst manipulating the figures, props and himself, for he is as much a part of the performance as his puppets.
It was a rewarding, witty and yet entirely serious concept, which held the attention of the audience, who were completely spellbound. He has a clear and harmonious and musical voice projection, finely articulating the differences between the voices of his many characters.
